Orlando Pirates coach Ouaddou justifies massive signings at the club

Orlando Pirates have been so busy in the Premier Soccer League bringing in players they feel will help them challenge for trophies in the competitions they will be competing in domestically and abroad.

So far, the Soweto giants have brought in Mthetheleli Mthiyane (Stellenbosch FC), Sbangani Zulu (Richards Bay), Bohale Ngwato (Siwelele) Ghampani Lungu (Siwelele), Neo Rapoo (Siwelele), Aphiwe Baliti (Siwelele), Matome Mmolai (Leicesterford City), and Sebastian Pedersen (Sogndal Fotball, Norway).

They also parted ways with Relebohile Mofokeng (Royale Union Saint-Gilloise), Gilberto, Karim Kimvuidi, Thabiso Lebitso (Stellenbosch), Tshegofatso Mabasa, Sipho Mbule, Bandile Shandu, Gomolemo Khoto (Sekhukhune United), Siyabonga Ndlozi (Sekhukhune United), Tshepho Mashiloane (Sekhukhune United, Loan), Thabiso Sesane (Siwelele FC), Selaelo Rasebotja (Siwelele FC), Siyabonga Ndlozi (Sekhukhune United), Gomolemo Khoto (Sekhukhune United), Sonwabo Khumalo (Midlands), Blessing Ngiba (Midlands), Seth Green (Durban City), Melusi Buthelezi, Neo Mokoena (AmaZulu), and Goodman Mosele (Chippa United).

Ouaddou justifies the signings

Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has now explained why there have been movements in the club ahead of the 2026/27 season.

“This season, we have, if we go through the first stage, around 60 games, so it’s a lot,” the former Fulham defender told the media.

“We’ve seen in this modern football that we are playing in every after three games, the players need freshness, we need to protect them.

“It’s important to have a number of players, to have a kind of rotation, to protect them and to be able to give some good football to the fans.

“Nowadays, we’re pushing games and we forget the wellness of the players. If the player is tired, the fans cannot see good football,” Ouaddou concluded.
