Orlando Pirates are into the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League following their 3-1 win over La Cure Waves on Saturday at the Orlando Amstel Arena.

As opposed to the first leg, which ended goalless, coach Abdeslam Ouaddou started a stronger side with more experienced players in his bid to get a win that will take them to the next phase.

Four goals in the first half!

Despite their good start, Bucs were caught on a counterattack in the sixth minute, with Jean Ami capitalising on a mistake between Sipho Chaine and Sbangani Zulu to hand the visitors a lead.

Barely a minute later, the Sea Robbers responded through Kabelo Kgositsile, who was at the end of a welcoming low cross from the left.

Kamogelo Sebelebele then beautifully finished a near-perfect interchange between him and Yanela Mbuthuma in the 25th minute to give the defending Premier Soccer League champions a 2-1 lead.

The Buccaneers continued raiding La Cure Waves in search of more goals. They won a corner in the 36th minute, giving Mbuthuma a chance to ensure the first half ended 3-1.

No more goals, but…

Just five minutes after the restart, Bafana Bafana international Oswin Appollis beat his markers before hitting the target, but the custodian was there to deny the versatile attacker.

Ramdiane was at it again in the 60th minute, this time around ensuring Sebelebele didn’t get his brace.

It could have been more for the Sea Robbers, but the likes of Camren Dansin and Boitumelo Radiopane failed to take their chances, but, the South African champions had done enough to advance.
