Orlando Pirates Transfer News: ‘Efficient’ new star tipped to make Bafana squad

Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou is convinced that new arrival Neo Rapoo will be a vital addition to the club and has what it takes to make Bafana Bafana team.

The versatile defender joined the Premier Soccer League champions alongside Mthetheleli Mthiyane (Stellenbosch FC), Sbangani Zulu (Richards Bay), Bohale Ngwato (Siwelele) Ghampani Lungu (Siwelele), Neo Rapoo (Siwelele), Aphiwe Baliti (Siwelele) & Matome Mmolai (Leicesterford City), and Sebastian Pedersen (Sogndal Fotball, Norway).

While with Siwelele, the youngster enjoyed playtime under coach Lehlohonolo Seema. He managed to make 22 appearances across all competitions, with three assists to his name.

Despite coming up against the likes of legendary Deon Hotto and Nkosikhona Ndaba at left-back, Ouaddou is convinced the 20-year-old will deliver.

Ouaddou raves about Rapoo

“I see Rapoo as the next international player along with Ndaba; they are full of qualities in terms of capacity to repeat efforts,” the former Fulham defender told the media.

“If you see our game model, it’s very demanding, and they are able to play combinations in the final third; they are able to score and give fantastic crosses.

“So about the clarity of Rapoo, he’s someone who’s efficient with set pieces; I think he will bring his competencies to our group, as you know we have a lot of games [in the new season], and I’m sure he will be successful,” Ouaddou added.

On Saturday, Pirates will host Milford FC in a Premier Soccer League outing at the Orlando Amstel Arena. Bucs come into the match as favourites and will be hoping to get maximum points to set the momentum for the new campaign.
