Latest Orlando Pirates news in the last 24 hours, including Relebohile Mofokeng winning his first trophy, Abdeslam Ouaddou on whether Sebastian Pedersen will make his debut this weekend, and more.

Bafana Bafana midfielder Relebohile Mofokeng secured his first trophy with Union Saint-Gilloise, who defeated Club Brugge to secure the Belgian Super Cup.

After a goalless first half, Brugge broke the deadlock three minutes into the second half thanks to a strike from Nicolo Tresoldi.

With Union trailing, Mofokeng made his entry onto the pitch in the 61st minute to replace Anan Khalaili.

Union did go on to get the equaliser in the 77th minute courtesy of a strike from Kevin Mac Allister, who is the brother of Liverpool star Alexis.

The clash sent the game to a penalty shoot-out, where Mofokeng did the honours by scoring the winning penalty as Union won 5-4.

Pedersen to make his debut?

Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has responded to questions over the readiness of new signing Sebastian Pedersen for Saturday’s match against Milford FC.

The Ghost supporters heading to the venue may get a long-awaited chance to see a few of their nine new summer signings integrated into action as the club ushers in a fresh domestic cycle.

However, it is highly unlikely that marquee forward Sebastian Pedersen will feature in the matchday squad.

Head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou confirmed that the 27-year-old Norwegian striker is not yet ready for selection due to ongoing work permit delays and administrative clearances.

Speaking at the official Betway Premiership launch on Wednesday, Ouaddou explained that while the forward is an essential asset for their upcoming campaign, the Sea Robbers will have to be patient regarding his official debut.

“I don’t think he [Perdesen] is already in the country,” Ouaddou said as quoted by KickOff.

“Of course, you know when you sign a player there’s a whole lot of administrative issues, but hopefully he will come soon.”

“I’m quite sure that he will not be part of the opening game.”
