Latest Orlando Pirates news, in the last 24 hours, including Abdeslam Ouaddou clapping back at critics, why Patrick Maswanganyi will be critical fro the Sea Robbers, and more.
Ouaddou claps back at critics
Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has hit back at critics in the manner in which he addressed his senior players in their previous clash.
This comes after the likes of Sipho Chaine and Nkosinathi Sibisi came under scrutiny from the French-Morroccan mentor for their performance in the 1-1 draw against AmaZulu FC on Wednesday.
On Sunday afternoon, the Buccaneers were merciless as they stormed to a heavy 3-0 win over Chippa United at Kings Park in Durban.

“I think my boys gave me a great response. You know, when a father or big brother is shouting in the dressing room, who else knows better than me my players, the psychology of my players,” he told the media.
“So, people talk too much to say the coach he cannot talk like that in the media. I’m expecting an answer, and sometimes you need to be a little bit hard with your boys to have this kind of performance.”
Star has ‘big space’ at Bucs
Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou says Patrick Maswanganyi has a big role to play as a playmaker following Relebohile Mofokeng’s exit.
“Everybody who understands football, who knows football, can see fantastic quality on Tito,” said Ouaddou.
“As long as he brings the game in his favour, to play forward, it’s what we have been saying to him, to bring the game forward. You see that he can help the team and he can be really the link between the defenders and the strikers.
“Not only that, he’s able to feed in the last third, but he’s somebody who is able to score as well. So, I think he has a lot of talent, he knows. We sit with him, we talk a lot about which area he needs to occupy, he must occupy in order to be more efficient.
“We did a lot of video sessions with him as well. And he’s a clever boy; he’s a clever boy. He knows exactly what we’re expecting from him and he showed it today.
“Again, I hope we will have this consistency because he’s a key player for Pirates, definitely. And like you said, truly, with the departure of Rele, he has a big space there to play and a very big role to play for our club. I’m very happy about his preparation since the beginning of the season.

“I’m very happy about how he’s training. I’m very happy about his attitude and it’s what I’m asking for my players. The work starts in training, not during the weekend, during the game.”
Chippa have a lot to offer despite loss vs Bucs
Chippa United head coach Brandon Truter believes the team still has a lot to offer despite failing to secure a win in their opening three Betway Premiership matches.
The Chilli Boys suffered a 3-0 defeat to Orlando Pirates at Kings Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Under Truter, Chippa have registered two draws and a defeat this campaign, although the coach feels the team are headed into the right direction.
“Firstly, congratulations to Orlando Pirates, but well done to the boys it was a good effort from them as well. Of course, I felt at 60 minutes we were still in the game, it was still 0-0. First half, we had our chances they had chances – a bit even coming into the 60-minute mark,” Truter told SuperSport after the game.
“It’s an ongoing process. Second half, we need to rectify and then after 50 minutes we managed to contain and not concede, but I think that’s the only chance they had in the box and then a mistake from Boy, unlike him and then from a set-play.

“It’s individual mistakes, things we can work out and rectify. But it’s a Chippa team that’s got so much to offer.
“The boys as well, just going forward – a bit of confidence more, we are getting there nicely so it’s about progression today so congratulations to Orlando Pirates.”
