The forward was among those who showed great quality as Pirates improved in the second half to score both goals and win the game, which leaves them two points behind Sundowns, with two games in hand.

“If you see Masilela today, well done,” Ouaddou told the media after the match at Orlando Stadium.

“I am not asking more, this is the football that I like. This is a high level and I push him to continue to be efficient like that and to play football and to leave these things [showboating] on the side.

“I am happy and I have to say it. My job as a coach is to improve players and to make them play this kind of football.”

Having been critical of his players for showboating during their CAF Champions League win over La Cure Waves on Saturday, Ouaddou defended his stance but also insisted that public rebuke is necessary.

“On the other hand, they can make mistakes but it depends on the position you are playing,” he added. “If you are playing a little bit higher as a midfielder or striker, it is fine but if you are young and playing in defence, if you make a mistake, there is only the goalkeeper behind there so we have sometimes to push a little bit to accelerate development and sometimes it is not to caress the players, it is to push hard.”

Meanwhile, the Pirates coach has fumed at what he terms his statements being taken out of context.

Ouaddou has raised eyebrows with a number of hard-hitting words like when he said he was out of energy and not sure if he would continue after just winning the league while last weekend, he warned that he could “pack his bags” if his players did not stop showboating.

He is, however, not happy that he is always being misquoted.

“When I try to be honest with you and speak, I have problems,” the Moroccan coach stated. “You take what you want and don’t take all the context about what I was saying so I will try to be very short or maybe I will have to come with a translator as well.”
