Pirates lose midfielder to Chippa

Chippa United have reached a deal with Orlando Pirates for a permanent transfer of midfielder Goodman Mosele, hijacking his loan move to Durban City at the last minute, according to iDiski Times.

Mosele joined Pirates in July 2021 from Baroka FC for an undisclosed transfer fee. The 26-year-old has spent most of his time at Pirates being loaned out to the Eastern Cape outfit.

Mosele joined Chippa Tuesday night in their camp in Gauteng after the Chilli Boys secured his signature for an undisclosed transfer fee.

The former Baroka was on the verge of joining Durban City on a season-long loan, but Chippa hijacked the deal at the last minute and convinced the midfielder to make a move to Gqeberha. Mosele is expected to be part of the Chilli Boys’ squad that will participate in the upcoming pre-season tournament in Mthatha, Eastern Cape.

Mofokeng’s nominations deserved

Orlando Pirates legend Lucky Lekgwathi says Relebohile Mofokeng’s nominations for last season’s PSL Awards are well deserved.

The Royale Union Saint- Gilloise attacker enjoyed a successful 2025/26 Betway Premiership season with Pirates, helping them to four trophies that also included the league title.

he 21-year-old scored 10 goals and provided eight assists in 27 league matches while featuring eight times in domestic cups where he got one goal in the Carling Knockout Cup.

His exploits earned him four nominations – the PSL Footballer of the Season, Betway Premiership Players’ Player of the Season, Betway Premiership Midfielder of the Season and Betway Premiership Young Player of the Season (U21).

“I think Rele’s nominations, all of them are well deserved because of the good season he had,” Lekgwathi told iDiski Times.

“Last season he lost to [Lucas] Ribeiro in the Footballer of the Season category, and he didn’t lose confidence but continued working hard.

“I was looking at all the nominations they are well deserved and it will be a good send off for him [to Union].”

“Just imagine playing for another team, coming home to collect the awards, even player of the tournament for the Carling Knockout Cup with regards to [Mbekezeli] Mbokazi.”

Slow start for Nemtajela?

After enjoying an impressive debut campaign with Orlando Pirates, midfielder Masindi Nemtajela could be set for a patient start to the new Betway Premiership season as he continues his recovery from injury, according to Soccer Laduma.

The 24-year-old was unable to travel with the Buccaneers for their pre-season camp in Spain, having suffered an injury towards the end of last season.

His last appearance came against Stellenbosch FC at the beginning of May before the injury ruled him out of Pirates’ final three league matches of the title-winning campaign.

The Buccaneers have strengthened their midfield during the transfer window, meaning competition for places is expected to be fierce once Nemtajela is available again.
