Latest news about Orlando Pirates, in the last 24 hours, including Abdeslam Ouaddou’s ugly side, how Bucs beat Kaizer Chiefs to midfielder & more.

Ugly side of Ouaddou revealed?

The ugly side of Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has been revealed in a dressing room half-time team talk, targeted at Patrick Maswanganyi.

Up against his former side Marumo Gallants in February this year, Ouaddou, revealed in a Pirates documentary titled: ‘We fight until the end’, was visibly angry at the players for not controlling the game better, even though they went to the half-time leading 2-0.

The Moroccan coach clearly took issue with Maswanganyi not following the instructions of playing the ball quicker but was delaying, looking to find a way through his ability to dribble past defences.

“Hey guys! We need to be serious, two minutes please. I think we’re here for the same purpose, we are in the same ship, we want to win. And I don’t think some players here, I don’t think they are aware of what we want to achieve. [raises voice] If you are here to joke, I’m not here to joke!” Ouaddou said, as documented on the Bucs Camp series.

“Guys, you can watch me, two-zero!? We don’t deserve it! We’re playing sh*** and if you continue like that!? What happened Tito? You have a problem!? Come here (in the centre of the changeroom), speak. Speak if you have a problem, come speak in front of everyone else. Don’t speak (in corners), I don’t like this. Come here if you have something to (to say) speak! I like when you speak to me directly!” [Ouaddou was confrontational and players such as Deon Hotto and Sipho Chaine stopped him from approaching Maswanganyi, telling him to calm down].

“We can make it 3-0 and we’re still joking. I think you want to win the title, I want to win the title with you. But when you’re joking like that, at home? It’s not correct. I’m not a dictator but I want people to work!” he added.

Pirates legend ‘NOT OKAY’ with PSL success!

Orlando Pirates legend Jerry Sikhosana has opened up about why he is “not okay” with his former club’s league success, despite them breaking a 14-year title drought.

“I don’t feel okay, people are talking that after 14 years, it’s mammoth task, thanks because they won the league,” he told the media.

“But people look at how did they win the league. They got two goals that were scored for them [own goals]. Players that scored those two goals, they were laughing inside the field as if they have done something good, killing their stay in the elite league, which is the PSL [Betway Premiership].

How Pirates beat Chiefs to midfielder

Mpho ‘Phopho’ Padime’s youth coach, Mpho Moloi, has explained how Orlando Pirates won the race against rivals Kaizer Chiefs to sign the midfield sensation.

According to his former coach, Moloi, the Glamour Boys only offered a contract to feature in the club’s Gauteng Development League [GDL] structures. This allowed Pirates to easily win the race for his signature by offering a DStv Diski Challenge [DDC] contract, presenting a faster pathway toward top-flight football.

In an interview with FARPost, Moloi, who coached the starlet at Kathorus Juventus FC in Katlehong, said: “People don’t know that Phopho was close to joining Kaizer Chiefs and we even had an offer from the club.

“The problem is that Chiefs were offering the GDL contract, and Pirates came in with a DDC contract. And that made sense for his future, so that’s how the move to Orlando Pirates came about.

“I’m happy that it’s turning out well for him, and people have yet to see his best.”
