Orlando Pirates Transfer News: PSL champions confirm shock exit

Premier Soccer League champions Orlando Pirates have confirmed parting ways with goalkeeper Melusi Buthelezi.

Since his move from TS Galaxy, the 28-year-old has been serving the Sea Robbers for the last three seasons, making 22 appearances across all competitions and managing 12 clean sheets.

Having lost the race to sign Renaldo Leaner from Sekhukhune United, many supporters anticipated Buthelezi to stay, but the Sea Robbers’ technical team had different ideas.

Pirates confirm Buthelezi exit

Buthelezi has been battling Bafana Bafana international Sipho Chaine for the Pirates’ number one spot in vain.

“The Club extends its sincere gratitude to Melusi Buthelezi for his professionalism, commitment, and contribution throughout his time with Orlando Pirates,” Pirates confirmed.

“We wish him every success in this next chapter of his career.”

During his time at the club, Buthelezi all the domestic titles.

Pirates transfer season so far

The PSL champions have been among the most active clubs as they strengthen for the new campaign.

They have signed Mthetheleli Mthiyane (Stellenbosch FC), Sbangani Zulu (Richards Bay), Bohale Ngwato (Siwelele) Ghampani Lungu (Siwelele), Neo Rapoo (Siwelele), Aphiwe Baliti (Siwelele) and Matome Mmolai (Leicesterford City).

Bucs have parted ways with Relebohile Mofokeng (Royale Union Saint-Gilloise), Gilberto, Karim Kimvuidi, Thabiso Lebitso (Stellenbosch), Tshegofatso Mabasa, Sipho Mbule, Bandile Shandu, Gomolemo Khoto (Sekhukhune United), Siyabonga Ndlozi (Sekhukhune United), Tshepho Mashiloane (Sekhukhune United, Loan), Thabiso Sesane (Siwelele FC), Selaelo Rasebotja (Siwelele FC), Siyabonga Ndlozi (Sekhukhune United), Gomolemo Khoto (Sekhukhune United), Sonwabo Khumalo (Midlands), Blessing Ngiba (Midlands) and Seth Green (Durban City).
