Orlando Pirates blow? Key player injured ahead of MTN8 final against Sundowns

Bafana Bafana are set to face Guinea on Saturday at the Orlando Stadium without the services of the Orlando Pirates captain Nkosinathi Sibisi.

The 31-year-old has been struggling with injuries this season, but fully regained his fitness to make Pitso Mosimane’s squad to play the National Elephants in Group D’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.

Sibisi is among the longest-serving Bafana Bafana players, which explains his importance to the national team set-up.

“Setback on Sibisi: he got an injury and has not been training for the last two days. He got a knock in training; we are monitoring it,” Mosimane said in the pre-match presser.

“The doctor says he will miss this one, but injuries are part of professional sport; hence, we select enough numbers. We don’t know what will happen, what we will face.

“We all know Lebo also pulled out; that’s why we selected as many as we could, so we can absorb and overcome these hurdles. That’s what we have, so far so good; the camp is good,” he concluded.

A concern for Ouaddou?

After the FIFA international break, the Sea Robbers will be in action against Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 final.

Bucs are hoping to win their fifth crown in a row to extend their dominance in the annual competition.

Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou is not short of options in the department, since Lebone Seema and Sbangani Zulu can do the job.
