Mosimane wary of deadly B. Dortmund striker: ‘He is top & big boy!’

Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane is expecting a tough outing, especially against Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy, when South Africa face Guinea on Saturday.

Mzansi are set to host the National Elephants at the Orlando Stadium in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier. Bafana Bafana are in Group D alongside co-hosts Kenya and Eritrea as well.

Mosimane is hoping for a decent outing, but has explained the threat presented by Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy.

Guinea have a top striker

“Guinea has a top striker who has been scoring goals for Borussia Dortmund,” he opened up, as quoted by SABC.

“He is a top number 9 and a big boy, so we have to make sure that we deal with his aerial strength and his other capabilities.

“The team sheet is not where we play the game, and we have to go out and show that on Saturday,” he added.

Mosimane explains decisions made

There have been changes in the team owing to injuries, with Luther Singh and Cassius Mailula getting their chances.

“I have been checking Luther Singh all the time. A lot of guys have been doing well, and they need to be given an opportunity.

“We should also remember someone like Thabang Matuludi also went to the World Cup under the previous coach so there is a very good reason why he is here after all, and he also played a cup final last Saturday at a very decent level,” he added.
