Orlando Pirates Transfer News: Bucs on verge of losing top defender

In the last year or so, Premier Soccer League champions Orlando Pirates have lost top players abroad.

Mohau Nkota, Mbekezeli Mbokazi, and most recently Relebohile Mofokeng have made moves overseas after having an exceptional campaign with the Soweto giants. Reports are rife that Bafana Bafana attacker Oswin Appollis might also be leaving.

Apart from the aforementioned ones, in the last couple of weeks Bucs have lost Gilberto, Karim Kimvuidi, Thabiso Lebitso (Stellenbosch), Tshegofatso Mabasa, Sipho Mbule, Bandile Shandu, Gomolemo Khoto (Sekhukhune United), Siyabonga Ndlozi (Sekhukhune United), and Tshepho Mashiloane (Sekhukhune United, Loan).

They have brought in Mthetheleli Mthiyane (Stellenbosch FC), Sbangani Zulu (Richards Bay), Bohale Ngwato (Siwelele) Ghampani Lungu (Siwelele), Neo Rapoo (Siwelele), Aphiwe Baliti (Siwelele) & Matome Mmolai (Leicesterford City).

Top defender on his way out?

The Sea Robbers are now on the verge of losing talented versatile defender Thabiso Sesane who is being chased by Siwelele FC.

“Siwelele FC are on the verge of securing Orlando Pirates defender Thabiso Sesane with talks in the final stages,” iDiski Times reported.

“Siwelele are currently in advanced talks with the Buccaneers in order to complete the signing of Sesane and are weighing up both options for the move on either a loan or permanent switch.

“Lehlohonolo Seema’s side has lost the experience of Nyiko Mobbie at the back and are now pushing for this move to consolidate their defence with Sesane bringing experience and leadership in the defensive set-up,” they added.

The 26-year-old Sesane was on the rise before an Achilles tendon injury back in February 2025 hampered his progress. He has since struggled to get back into the starting team, with coach Abdeslam Ouaddou seeing him as surplus to requirements.
