Orlando Pirates are close to agreeing a deal with an unnamed Bahraini side for the transfer of midfielder Patrick Maswanganyi.

Maswanganyi is set for a move to an unnamed Bahraini side. The 28-year-old’s move has been imminent, as he nearly left the club for Chippa United at the beginning of last season, just before the Buccaneers won the league.

This time around, Maswanganyi’s move is closer than before as he already missed the MTN8 semi-final first-leg clash against Sekhukhune United at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium. Maswanganyi is set to join South African midfielder Menzi Masuku in Bahrain, according to iDiski Times.

The Egyptian side Pyramids never showed any interest in the midfielder despite the rumours. Tito won it all with the Buccaneers: the Betway Premiership, MTN8, Carling Knockout Cup, and Nedbank Cup.

Tso lauds Pedersen

Benedict Vilakazi has sung praises for new Orlando Pirates striker Sebastian Pedersen while pleading for patience with the Norwegian striker.

Pedersen joined the Buccaneers from Norwegian 1st Division side Sogndal on an undisclosed transfer fee last month. The 27-year-old striker scored eight goals and had one assist in 14 appearances.

He played for all Norway national team divisions from under-16 until under-21, but he is yet to make his senior national debut. In the 2016/17 season, he finished as the golden boot winner with 25 goals in Norsk Tipping-Ligaenavdeling 2, which is the fourth tier in Norway.

Pedersen made a 25-minute cameo appearance for the Buccaneers in their hard-fought 1-0 MTN8 semi-final first-leg win over Sekhukhune United on Saturday.
