City return from a four-day round trip to Bujumbura after seeing off Rukinzo FC in the CAF Confederation Cup, and Ben Youssef has flagged that a small squad reshaped by summer arrivals makes rotation likely here.

Pirates have the better of this fixture since Durban City’s rebrand from Maritzburg United, winning the first meeting 2-0 before City held out for a goalless draw in May and Pirates avenged that result with a extra-time MTN8 win in August, with Gamphani Lungu’s late volley settling it after Brooklyn Poggenpoel’s red card and a Jean Lwamba equaliser.
