Orlando Pirates hope to avenge the 4-1 loss suffered against Mamelodi Sundowns in the initial meeting.

They will be playing Sundowns at the FNB Stadium aware that a loss might end their chances of winning the league. they are currently trailing Masandawana by 18 points despite playing four games less.

Have a look at how coach Jose Riveiro might name his starting team on Sunday.

The Bafana Bafana international has been in fine form for the club, pulling some crucial saves.

When fit, there is no argument on who to start between him and Melusi Buthelezi.

The former Stellenbosch captain was controversially left out of the Bafana team for 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

He has been consistent for Bucs and he will have another moment to prove to Hugo Broos that he made a mistake leaving him out.

The ever-reliable and consistent 34-year-old has been delivering for the club in that position, keeping the likes of Paseka Mako out.

His defensive and attacking prowess is a plus to the Namibia international.

Centre-Back: Nkosinathi Sibisi

Sibisi has been a rock for Pirates, keeping the struggling Tapelo Xoki out.

Interesting to see whether Riveiro will bench him for fit-again Olisa Ndah, of course in future.

Centre-Back: Mbekezeli Mbokazi

The 19-year-old Pirates Academy graduate needed one game to prove his worth for the club.

This will be his biggest game so far and it is interesting to see whether lack of experience will work against him.

The ever-green 35-year-old currently has no competition in his position.

The bulky midfielder has been out of action for some time, however, he returned with full force.

It will be a massive task for the 25-year-old to ensure he, alongside Makhauls, stops Sundowns from running the show in midfield.

Creative Midfielder: Patrick Maswanganyi

Tito has not yet hit the heights of last season, but still remains one of the most creative players in the league.

His inclusion in the Bafana team for international assignments shows how he is valued, but he has to step up.

Right Winger: Relebohile Mofokeng

Eight goals and 12 assists for the 20-year-old South Africa sensation! Another tough hurdle awaits him.

Left Winger: Mohau Nkota

After a good start this season, Nkota has struggled to hit top gear as expected.

However, he still remains a crucial player for Pirates in the absence of Monnapule Saleng.

After scoring 16 goals last season, by his standards, the towering forward should have more than five strikes.

His experience will be vital against a good Sundowns defense.
