Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has praised the squad's desire to replicate their first-leg success, dismantling Lioli FC with a commanding 7-0 aggregate score. The 4-0 second-leg win at Orlando Stadium.
Tshepang Moremi and Yanela Mbuthuma, who arrived at the club just ahead of the start of the current season, were instrumental in the team's latest victory, each bagging a brace—meaning two goals apiece—in the match.
Ouaddou says he had emphasised the need for relentless performance, regardless of the 3-0 aggregate lead from the first leg.
OUADDOU SAYS IT WAS IMPORTANT TO TO PROVE THEMSELVES AGAIN AGAINST LIOLI
“It was non-negotiable; it’s what we wanted to achieve. It was important for us to [prove again] the superior performance that we produced in the first leg,” Ouaddou told SABC Sport.
“I have to congratulate my boys about the character, the personality, and the ambition to play the good football and score goals until the end. They gave a great performance for our supporters.”
Ouaddou’s composure was key in ensuring the second half explosion. During the half-time interval, calmed any emerging frustration, guiding his players with precise instructions.
“I was not panicking at all,” he asserted.
“I told the guys clearly, continue to focus on the plan. The key instruction was to focus on how to find the spaces and connect between the lines.”
“We did well, and we are happy to progress,” Ouaddou affirmed. “But now we have to concentrate fully on the next league match that is upcoming for us.”
