Kaizer Chiefs were heavily linked with a move for Bafana Bafana vice-captain Percy Tau following his exit from Qatar SC.
The Lion of Judah had also shown an intention to join the Glamour Boys, provided they were willing to part with R450,000 monthly. Since then, nothing more has been discussed about the 31-year-old until recently, when reports resurfaced that Zamalek FC are interested in acquiring his services.
In his interview with the Smash Sports YouTube Channel, Amakhosi's Football Manager Bobby Motaung has now hinted why the Soweto giants passed the opportunity to secure the services of the former Mamelodi Sundowns attacker.
‘If you don't have the right spirit, you can run away'

“Our industry is funny. When you want a player and when we start talking [and] you start talking about money first, he's not coming to our club. That's not your player,” he stated when asked about the salary.
“When you love the game, money will come. If you say, ‘This is the club I want to play for' [and other teams come later]. But if you start by saying, ‘How much are you giving me?' That person is no longer playing for the game.
“The industry taught me that. The issue of salary… Yes, you need money, I need to pay school fees, maintanance, but the thing of loving people, sacrifice is hard. It’s something deep. If you don't have the right spirit, you can run away or quit,” Bobby concluded.
Amakhosi have so far signed Ethan Chislett, Flavio Silva, Nkanysio Shinga, Thabiso Monyane, Paseka Mako, and Siphesihle Ndlovu.
