Sekhukhune United have appointed Peter Hyballa as their new coach to spearhead 2024/25 Premier Soccer League preparations.

The German-Dutch tactician takes over from Orlando Pirates legend Lehlohonolo Seema whose contract at Babina Noko wasn't renewed. The former midfielder was sent to a compulsory leave two weeks to the end of the initial campaign after reportedly breaching the club's ethical code.

The club, eventually, confirmed the release of the tactician after the season ended, rendering the position vacant.

On Sunday, June 30, the Premier Soccer League side confirmed the 48-year-old as their new man at the helm of the technical team.

Before his dismissal, Seema had played a massive role in helping Sekhukhune finish fourth on the PSL table with 45 points, which guarantees them a place in next season's Caf Confederation Cup.

Who is Babina Noko's new coach, Hyaballa?

The tactician was born on December 5, 1975, to a Dutch mother and a German father. Hyaballa has no history of playing professional football, he ventured into a coaching career.

During his coaching stint, the new Sekhukhune coach has coached some established teams like Sturm Graz, NEC, Wisla Krakow, NAC Breda among others.

What has Hyaballa achieved in his coaching career?

Hyaballa has not won any major titles during his spell as a coach, but he managed to set history in Slovakia.

In 2018/19 he managed to help DAC Dunajska Streda, finish second in the Slovak Super Liga which was the highest-ever finish in 16 years.

It will be interesting to see what the tactician can deliver at Sekhukhune, which is the first time he will be working in Africa.

What are Sekhukhune fans anticipating?

Seema has already set the bar for Hyaballa; finishing fourth in the Premier Soccer League was not a mean achievement.

Babina Noko supporters hope the new man will help them to even greater heights in the South African top-flight football.

He will have to balance between international matches and domestic announcements. It will be critical to get good results in any of the Cup competitions, at least reach the latter stages.
