Langelihle Phili: Big news for Kaizer Chiefs ahead of date with Pirates in Soweto derby?

Kaizer Chiefs will be up against Orlando Pirates in the Premier Soccer League’s Soweto derby on Saturday, October 31 at the FNB Stadium.

Amakhosi have been unlucky with injuries since the start of the season, losing key players when they are needed the most. For instance, it is not clear whether Renaldo Leaner has recovered from his finger injury sustained after a couple of games in which he shone.

However, full-back Thabiso Monyane is out alongside midfielder Siphesihle Ndlovu but recently, they welcomed Rushwin Dortley who has been out for 18 months.

Nevertheless, it seems Langelihle Phili might also be in the Chiefs squad to play the defending champions this weekend. The 21-year-old is among the players signed by the Glamour Boys at the start of the season in the club’s bid to strengthen the attacking department.

The winger showed promise in the matches involved in before the unfortunate ankle injury kept him out from late August. Initially, the attacker had been expected to be out for less than six weeks, but it wasn’t the case.

Amakhosi faithful have every reason to be optimistic of seeing the winger in action on Saturday. Phili was seen in training with others ahead of the biggest fixture on the South African soil. It will be interesting to see how Da Cruz and his technical team will manage him.

Currently, the Soweto giants are fifth on the table with 14 points after eight games from which they have collected three wins and five draws.
