Royal AM's future in the Premier Soccer League is unassured after the Executive Committee made a unanimous decision that their membership should be terminated.
Thwihli Thwahla have been struggling financially since late 2022 when they failed to pay striker Samir Nurkovic a claim settlement of R15 million after a contract breach. This season, Royal AM found themselves in problems with SARS after failing to pay an R40 million debt in terms of taxes linked to a family trust fund connected to the club's owner Shauwn Mkhize.
The team has been out of action since December 29, during which time they played just 11 Premier Soccer League matches. Since then, only 15 teams have been doing the job for the fans in Mzansi.
What next for Royal AM, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns?

The member clubs are now set to convene an impromptu meeting in the next couple of days to vote in favour of the Executive Committee's decision, meaning Royal AM might not be part of the Premier Soccer League teams anymore.
The teams that had played against Thwihli Thwahla and won will now lose the points, meaning Orlando Pirates will be among the sides that will benefit. They are currently trailing leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by 15 points, but that gap will now be reduced to just 12 which will give them a motivation to push for the title.
Players at Royal AM are expected to be released, with clubs in the PSL now having a field day in identifying those that can add value to them and get them for free.
