Pirates legend urges Motaungs to fire Nabi despite winning the Nedbank Cup

The future of Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has been a major subject in the country for the last couple of weeks before and after winning the Nedbank Cup crown.

Despite delivering silverware for the first time in a decade, the Glamour Boys have found the going tough, especially in the Premier Soccer League. In the 27 games played, Amakhosi have lost 12 matches, managed eight wins, and seven draws. However, they will get their MTN8 slot by beating Polokwane City in their final game of the season on Saturday.

Orlando Pirates legend Benedict Tso Vilakazi insists the Tunisian is not the right man for Amakhosi. He argues Chiefs have no identity in their style of play, and that he is not able to push the players to their maximum.

He further claims that winning the Nedbank Cup is not enough to see him getting another chance with the Soweto giants.

‘Nabi, thank you very much'

“Personally, I would not retain Nabi, one, as a coach, show us who you are with the type of football you want to play, it will tell us what type of person you are. One, two games, he started as if he wanted to build from the back, but when you're doing something you're not used to, at some point you'll be confused,” he told Omniaudioafrica YouTube Channel.

“What is disappointing me about Nabi is, I don't know what type of football he really wants to play, I'd be lying. The only switch I think he did and worked for Chiefs is when he moved [Wandile] Duba from wing to striker.

Nasreddine Nabi Kaizer Chiefs

“Other than that, I don't see him bringing the best out of Chiefs players. For me there's no Chiefs player that has risen to the occasion, to say maybe Player of the Season, Midfielder of the Season, Defender of the Season. For me, a team like Chiefs – it is a must that end of the season you need at least one player nominated. For me, I'd say, ‘Nabi you saved us from ten years without a trophy but thank you very much',” Vilakazi concluded.
