Orlando Pirates are set to lose their star versatile attacker Relebohile Mofokeng to ex-Belgian champions Royale-Union St. Gilloise.

The 21-year-old has been a hit in the Premier Soccer League since getting his first taste late in the 2022/23 campaign under the then Sea Robbers coach Jose Riveiro. In the last three seasons, he has made massive strides which has seen him become a regular for Bafana Bafana.

As a matter of fact, he was part of the South Africa national team that played in the 2026 FIFA World Cup where the team was eliminated in the Round of 32 by co-hosts Canada.

On Wednesday, FARPost reported Mofokeng travelled directly from Los Angeles to Belgium to undergo a medical ahead of completing a move to the European outfit in the next couple of days.

Reports have it that Pirates have already agreed to let their star player to leave after helping them win the Premier Soccer League title last season, for the first time in 14-years.

Coach Hugo Broos has now explained to Mofokeng what he should expect in Belgium and advised on what to do for him to succeed.

“I think it’s a good thing for him, and he will progress, but we mustn’t expect that he will play from the first day,” the tactician said as quoted by SABC Sport.

“I think he will progress, but Rele must be stronger, it’s a very tough competition in Belgium, and in the first five to six months they will work a lot on his physical strength.

“He’s a talented player, and once you have the power you need for such a competition, there will be no problem at all,” he concluded.
