Orlando Pirates fans told not to panic over Mofokeng’s exit – ‘Whole lot of gems coming’

Orlando Pirates supporters have been told to stay calm following the departure of Relebohile Mofokeng to Belgian club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.

Mofokeng completed his transfer on Thursday when the Brussels-based side announced his signing and back in South Africa, Pirates fans are worried over what lies ahead given how difficult it will be to replace the playmaker.

However, club legend Joseph Makhanya is looking at the glass half-full as he feels there is no need to panic given the array of talents coming through at the club which will make supporters quickly forget Mofokeng.

Bucs legend on why fans should stay calm

“If you have to break down these players that we have mentioned, they all have different and special attributes all of them,” Makhanya said on SoccerBeat.

“You check Rele [Mofokeng], [Mohau] Nkota, Mbekezeli [Mbokazi] and there are also the other ones that have not made their mark yet but you know it’s coming.”

Makhanya went on to name a couple of young players who he feels will soon become key for Abdeslam Ouaddou’s team and have the same impact as Mofokeng and the aforementioned who recently secured moves abroad.

“You have got [Simphiwe] Selepe that is coming, you have [Camren] Dansin that is coming,” he added, singling out the defensive and attacking midfielders as the ones to watch going forward.

Pirates legend has full trust in club’s system

“There are a whole lot of gems that are also coming and will be waiting for the platform as well so now with Pirates, we know it comes with a lot of bravery, especially to trust these players.

“But with systems in place, it means now you can always give it a shot and knowing that it can yield a result because football is more about being given a platform and being trusted once you have been given a platform and being supported. There are a whole lot of systems that are being put in place,” he further stated.

Pirates have been successfully integrating youngsters into the senior team, a move that has not just yielded success on the pitch, but is now earning them multi-million sums in transfer fees from clubs abroad.
