Relebohile Mofokeng’s move to Belgian club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise was a record transfer according to the latest reports.
Orlando Pirates are set to receive a significant financial boost, with Transfermarkt indicating the club will pocket R65.3 million and not the R56 million that was initially reported in transfer fees.
The Soweto giants officially confirmed on Wednesday that an agreement had been reached for the talented young player’s move to Europe, marking a major step in his promising career.

According to the outlet, the transfer fee is €3.5 million, which converts to approximately R65.3 million. This is higher than the €3.2 million (R49 million) that Premier League club Brighton and Hove Albion paid Mamelodi Sundowns for Percy Tau in 2018.

“The 21-year-old talent was in action at the FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico last week with South Africa,” the club stated when announcing his signing.
