‘Yes, I am available’ – Pitso Mosimane makes stance on Bafana Bafana job

Veteran coach Pitso Mosimane has given the clearest indication that he is interested in the Bafana Bafana job.

Mosimane has been out of work since leaving Iranian side Esteghlal FC in January and been linked to a number of posts, including Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana.

With coach Hugo Broos set to step down from his role as Bafana Bafana boss after the 2026 World Cup, a number of names have been tipped to take over and Mosimane’s has featured prominently.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly coach is no stranger to Bafana Bafana, having served as assistant to Brazilian Carlos Alberto Pareira during the 2010 World Cup, before taking over from that year to 2012.

Now, the 61-year-old admits the job of head of South Africa is very attractive given the many positives being witnessed in the country’s football and he would not shy away from the role.

“There’s no any other better time to coach Bafana than now,” said Mosimane on Marawa Sports Worldwide.

“We have a good generation of under 20s, under 17s. South Africa is in a good spot but sometimes we forget that we’ve been in this space before.”

However, Jingles is clear that taking over Bafana Bafana is not as straightforward as people might wish as there must be certain guarantees for him to accept the job.

“Yes, I’m available for a good project but you can’t just say, ‘Okay we drew yesterday, now let’s get him and then we draw again, and then we can’t fix it’. Those things, I’m not in line with them,” he added.

Broos has already named his assistant Helman Mkhalele as the man he wants to replace him while four-time PSL winning coach Gavin Hunt, another seasoned tactician, has expressed a desire to take over.
