PSL Awards: League managers finally reveal the nominees for 2024/25 season

The Premier Soccer League has confirmed nominees for the concluded 2024/25 campaign.

Mamelodi Sundowns won the league crown for the eighth time in a row, with Orlando Pirates coming second. It wasn't a good campaign for Royal AM and Cape Town City, who failed to keep their status in South Africa's top flight.

Bucs won the MTN8, while Magesi FC surprised other teams to win the Carling Knockout. Kaizer Chiefs, finally, secured their first silverware in a decade after the Nedbank Cup triumph.

In this category, the PSL has listed Kgara Mokoena, Romario Phiri, and Khamusi Razwimisan for the prize.

Referee of the season

Controversial Luxolo Badi, Masixole Bambiso, and Olani Kwinda have been listed for the award.

Diski Challenge Player of the Season

Champions Kaizer Chiefs, Stellenbosch and Mamelodi Sundowns have each produced a candidate in this category.

Motsepe Foundation Young POTY nominees

Kaizer Chiefs target Luke Baartman has been nominated despite failing to help Cape Town Spurs surive relegation.

Motsepe Foundation Championship Goalkeeper of the Season:

 These are the players that will be battling for the Golden Glove, Emile Lako (Casric Stars), Sekhoane Moerane (Orbit College), and Duminsane Msibi (Durban City)

Motsepe Foundation Championship Players’ POTY

Banele Hlope, Joslin Kamatuka, and Muzomuhle Khanyi have been considered for the above award.

MTN8 Last Man Standing

Champions Bucs have Deon Hotto and Relebohile Mofokeng here but will get stiff challenge from Stellies' man Fawaaz Basadien.

Carling KO Player of the Tournament nominees

It will be a tough challenge for Sundowns star Iqraam Rayners to toppel Magesi FC duo Elvis Chipezeze and Edmore Chirambadare for the crown.

Nedbank Cup's Most Promising Player nominees

 Runners-up and immediate former champions are guaranteed this award thanks to exploits by Mbekezeli Mbokazi, Relebohile Mofokeng, and Mohau Nkota.

Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament

The defending champions Kaizer Chiefs will run with this since Inacio Miguel, Pule Mmodi, and Gaston Sirino have been nominated.

PSL's Goal of the Season: 

Who should win this award? Is it Fawaaz Basadien, Lucas Ribeiro, or Glody Lilepo?

Sipho Chaine and Elvis Chipezeze will come face to face with favourite Ronwen Williams.

As expected, Lucas Ribeiro and Relebohile Mofokeng will be battling for this. However, they have surprise package in Keletso Makgalwa.

It is interesting to see the players who will crowned in the Sports Awards Gala that will done on Tuesday, July 29.
