Raw deal? Saleng slammed for not delivering for Orbit – ‘He’s not giving us what we expected’

Orbit College coach Pogiso Makhoye is now questioning whether it was a good decision to sign Orlando Pirates winger Monnapule Saleng.

The 27-year-old joined his former team, albeit on loan from the Buccaneers, at the start of the 2025/26 season. He has since played four Premier Soccer League games for the club, but is yet to register either an assist or a goal.

Saleng missed the game against his parent club about a fortnight ago, and Makhoye felt that in the star's absence, the other players improved their display.

In the five games played, the Mswenko Boys have managed a single win and four losses, which puts them 15th on the table, just two points above Chippa United, who are on one point after a draw and four losses.

Makhoye has now urged Saleng to up his game and help the team deliver in the forthcoming assignments.

Orbit College playing better without Saleng?

“So far, I think he is not giving us what we expected from him as a big player, a player who comes with this big name. So, those are the things that we need to sit down and check as a team to say, is he really affecting the team? Are we playing better when he is on the team or when he is not on the team?” he told Metro FM's SNAWA.

“So, those are things we need to look at. Those are the things that we need to assess in these two weeks. We had a conversation with him also to say you need to up your game. Because we played a top game on Tuesday, you came back to the team, and we became a different team, negatively. Because on Tuesday, everybody was working, everybody could run.

“Now the weight is on him, when he is not [playing] everyone is putting that 110%, but when he is in the field, the players tend to say we rely on you [Saleng] to lead us,” Makhoye concluded.

The next assignment for Orbit College will be against Chippa United, who are chasing their first win this season.
