Former Mamelodi Sundowns star Lucas Ribeiro has been nominated for the 2025 FIFA Puskas Award.
The 27-year-old Brazilian starred for Masandawana in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup where the defending Premier Soccer League champions impressed. They were the only African team that managed to win a match but were unfortunate to be eliminated at group stage despite collecting four points.
Ribeiro scored and assisted in the three games he played; his strike, that ended up winning the goal of the tournament, was against Borussia Dortmund, a fixture Masandawana fell 4-3 despite the good showing.

The versatile attacker collected the ball in midfield before going past the opponents, dribbled and found the back of the net
Stiff competition for Ribeiro
However, the Cultural Leonesa Ribeiro will have to beat Declan Rice's sensational strike against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League's Round of 16 outing, and Lamine Yamal's LaLiga strike versus Espanyol.
