Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro showered his players with praise following their impressive 3-0 victory over Stade d'Abidjan in the CAF Champions League on Saturday night.

The victory at Orlando Stadium not only secured three crucial points but also extended the Buccaneers' unbeaten run in the group stages.

The Spanish tactician expressed his pride in the team's collective performance, highlighting their dominance from start to finish.

‘IT WAS AN EXTRAORDINARY PERFORMANCE’

“From beginning to end a really good performance from the boys, excellent attitude, excellent rhythm, excellent intentions, well executed our plan,” Riveiro told SABC Sport.

“Obviously we're playing a competition where goal difference could play a role in the end but I think we cannot complain about anything today, it was an extraordinary performance in every phase.

“Not allowing the opponent to play at all, we managed to keep our pressing very well during the 90 minutes, provoking a lot of mistakes from the opponent, they don't play well from the build-ups. I think it's a really positive game.”

In response to the question of whether the goals were practiced in training, he stated, “There's components obviously of the things we emphasize everyday, the way we want to play football, where we want to find as much as possible our key players. So like I said, it's a great day to celebrate, the coaching staff did a good job, it was difficult to deal with this team on set-pieces, in the first fixture.”

“I don't remember them having a goal chance today, a couple of shots but from long range. Overall it's a day to be happy as a group.”
