Orlando Pirates secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Stade d'Abidjan in their CAF Champions League group stage clash at Orlando Stadium on Saturday to top Group C.

Relebohile Mofokeng opened the scoring in the first half, while second-half goals from Patrick Maswanganyi and Deon Hotto sealed the deal for the Buccaneers.

The match began with both teams displaying attacking intent, but clear-cut chances were scarce in the opening minutes. Deon Hotto squandered a golden opportunity to break the deadlock, firing wide when one-on-one with the goalkeeper.

Pirates gradually gained control of the game, and their pressure paid off in the 22nd minute. Mohau Nkota provided the assist for Mofokeng, who calmly slotted the ball home to give the home side the lead.

The Buccaneers continued to create chances but were unable to capitalize before halftime.

In the second half, Pirates doubled their lead through Maswanganyi, who finished expertly after receiving a pass from Nkota.

Stade d'Abidjan struggled to mount a comeback against the dominant Pirates.

With time running out, Deon Hotto added a third goal to secure the victory for the Sea Robbers.

This crucial win propelled Pirates to the top of the league table with eight points from four games after Al Ahly suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of CR Belouizdad.
