Ronwen Williams explains why he’s excited by Chiefs new challenge

Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Ronwen Williams has expressed his excitement about the revitalized Kaizer Chiefs.

Williams was speaking after he got a man of the match accolade where Chiefs lost 2-1 to the Brazilians at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Amakhosi seem to gained confidence under the new leadership of Nasreddine Nabi after the club had struggled for almost a decade.

Williams says they knew Chiefs would pose a significant threat due to their recent form.

“It was tough, it’s never easy coming here at FNB,” said Williams.

“They have been doing extremely well, so we knew it’s gonna be tough and I’m just glad I could play my part today.”

Williams believes that Kaizer Chiefs will make the league more competitive and help them elevate their level to become even better.

WILLIAMS – ‘THEY WILL PUSH US TO BE EVEN MORE BETTER’

“It’s two giants of African football, that’s what you gonna get, quality football, battles, fights, goals, saves and good intensity,”

“This was one of the best games this season so far. The intensity was good from both teams.

“I’m glad to see Kaizer Chiefs being like this again, so they can give us more competition to make the league more tougher and push us to be even better.”

The Bafana Bafana captain expressed concern about the team's defensive lapses, highlighting the back-to-back goals conceded as a sign of weakness at the back.

“We were solid but in saying that we pride ourselves in cleansheets. Now, it’s back-to-back goals that we conceded, that’s not us.

“That’s a sign that there’s weaknesses and things that we need to sort out. We’ve got a big break now.

“This is our last game before the international break. So, we’ve got enough time to sort things out,” he concluded.
