Rulani Mokwena Eyeing Reunion with Ex-Sundowns Star at MC Alger?

Published on by

Rulani Mokwena, the recently appointed head coach of MC Alger, is believed to be targeting a reunion with Cassius Mailula to strengthen the Algerian Ligue 1 champions' attack as per iDiski Times.

With Mailula now available after his loan spell with Wydad was not made permanent, speculation has intensified about who Mokwena will seek to bring into his new squad.

MOKWENA TO MAKE MOVE FOR MAILULA?

The report added that Mailula's name has been presented to MC Alger's board for consideration. Mokwena is reportedly keen to act quickly in the transfer market, aiming to secure his desired signings before the start of the new season.

This potential move would see Mailula link up again with the coach who brought him to Morocco from Mamelodi Sundowns.

Under Mokwena at Wydad, Mailula proved to be a productive forward. He registered an impressive tally of six goals and seven assists in 36 appearances across all competitions. This demonstrated ability to contribute directly to goals, both as a scorer and a creator, makes him an attractive prospect for Mokwena's plans at MC Alger.

The prospect of playing under a familiar coach who understands his strengths could be highly appealing for Mailula, offering him a clear path to regular first-team football and the chance to build on his previous form in North Africa.

Meanwhile, last month, Cassius Mailula's agent, Karabo Tshabuse, confirmed that he has three offers on the table, with a move away from Toronto FC likely.

The offers include one from Egypt, one from “baby Europe” (not a top 5 league), and one from the Middle East. Tshabuse also mentioned that they are taking their time to consider the offers and might announce something completely different.
