Kaizer Chiefs defender, Rushwin Dortley, has shared his insights on managing the immense pressure associated with playing for the Soweto giants.
The young center-back, who joined Amakhosi from Cape Town Spurs at the beginning of the season, has quickly established himself as a key player under coach Nasreddine Nabi.
His impressive performances have not only earned him a regular spot in the Chiefs starting lineup but have also seen him called up to the Bafana Bafana squad in recent camps.
Dortley acknowledges the dual nature of public opinion, recognizing that both praise and criticism are inevitable for a Chiefs player.
To mitigate the negative impact of social media, he advises his teammates to limit their online presence.
RUSHWIN DORTLEY’S ADVICE FOR CHIEFS PLAYERS
“There will be comments in the media and all of those things even the good ones but you have to stay focused,” Dortley told the media
“On the goal you have set for yourself, stay humble, stay grounded and do not always be on social media on a regular.
“Then you gonna get attached to the stuff and get dragged away from your initial move when you came here was to play football and help the club.
“If you continue doing that you will forget about what you came here to do so for me it’s just to stay humble and calm.”
