Orlando Pirates have pulled off one of the most significant transfers of the window, confirming the capture of midfielder Sipho Mbule on a free transfer.
Mbule, who was widely offered to Amakhosi, has opted for the black and white of the Buccaneers in what was an unexpected move.
MBULE SIGNING, CLEAR INDICATOR OF PIRATES AMBITIONS
The signing of Mbule is a clear indicator of Pirates' heightened ambitions for the upcoming campaign. This strategic acquisition significantly fortifies the Sea Robbers, who fell short in their pursuit of both the Betway Premiership and CAF Champions League last season.
With Mbule now in their ranks, Pirates are meticulously building a squad designed for dominance, confident that his talent will be instrumental in helping them reach for, and ultimately grasp, the major trophies that eluded them.
Mbule departed Mamelodi Sundowns at the end of the season upon the expiry of his contract with the club. He had been with the Tshwane giants since the start of the 2022/23 campaign.
Mbule's journey with the Tshwane giants saw him rack up 51 appearances, contributing a single goal and one assist.
However, struggling for consistent game time at Chloorkop, he spent this past season on loan at Betway Premiership rivals Sekhukhune United. During his stint with Babina Noko, Mbule featured 14 times, showcasing glimpses of his potential with two goals and two assists.
This strategic acquisition by the Sea Robbers aims to reignite his career and bolster their midfield options, setting the stage for a stronger challenge in the upcoming season.
