Sportingbet App Download Guide for South Africa (March 2026)

Published on by

The Sportingbet app is free to download in South Africa for Android and iOS devices. We tested every feature in March 2026 and particularly enjoyed the “Fast-login” toggle, the integration of Build-a-bet with live streaming, the sign up bonus and the speed compared to the mobile site.

How To Download The Sportingbet App

Apple users can download the app from the App Store. Android users must download the Sporting Bet APK from the bookmaker’s website.

Your mobile device must also meet the minimum requirements. We suggest studying our table closely to ensure you complete the Sporting Bet app download without any errors.

Note: There is a “Sportingbet Live Scores App” on the Google Play Store, but we don’t recommend it; not due to any security or safety concerns, but because it’s redundant.

System Requirements & Compatibility

Please check the table below to make sure the app works on your phone.

SpecificationAndroidiOS
File Size88.29 MB132.3 MB
Latest App Version25.12.1525.12.19
Minimum System RequirementsAndroid 10.0+iOS 16.0+
iPadOS 16.0+
MacOS 13.0+
Compatible DevicesSamsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, OppoiPhone, iPad, MacBook, iMac

Expert Tips: The iOS version is larger than the Android file in the initial download, but as will be discussed later, the Android app requires more space. We recommend having at least 250 MB of free memory for updates.

Sportingbet App Download Steps for Android

Google often blocks betting apps in some areas, including SA, so you will need to manually install the app as an APK. We have listed the steps to help you install it safely.

Android prompt asking to install the Sportingbet APK app.
Downloading the Sportingbet mobile betting app on Android takes only a few minutes.
  1. Visit the official mobile site on your phone.
  2. Look for the “New Android App” button right on the homepage.
  3. Tap this button to download the APK’s latest version.
  4. Open the “Downloads” folder in your file manager and tap the new file.
  5. Follow the steps on your screen to finish the installation.

Expert Tip for Android Users:

The “New Android App” button is easy to see as soon as the page loads. You do not need to look through different menus or scroll to the bottom like with so many other bookies.

We recommend turning on “Unknown Sources” in your phone settings before you attempt the SportingBet app install.

How to Download the Sportingbet App on iOS

Getting the app on an iPhone takes a bit more work. Unlike other sites, this mobile site does not have a button that takes you directly to the store. You must find the App Store yourself to get the file. Your account must be set to South Africa to see this app.

Sportingbet online betting app listed in the Apple App Store for iPhone download.
  1. Open the Apple App Store on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap the search icon and type “Sportingbet – Online Betting” yourself.
  3. Choose the app that displays the official blue-and-red “sb” logo.
  4. Tap the “Get” button and use your Apple ID to start.
  5. Wait for the icon to show up on your home screen to open it.

Expert Tips for iOS Users:

It is a bit inconvenient that there is no direct link to the store, but the App Store is very strict about scams. The chances of downloading a fake are extremely low.

Even so, before you download, make sure the copyright is displayed as “© GreatOdds (Pty) Ltd (2012/187650/07) trading as Sportingbet South Africa, is licensed and regulated by the Western Cape Gambling & Racing Board.”

Is the App Available on Huawei?

As of March 2026, there is no dedicated Sportingbet SA app available for download on the AppGallery. As described in the table above, the APK is compatible with Huawei devices, meaning you can follow the same download steps as Android users.

User Interface

Sportingbet app homepage showing live sports, casino menu and navigation options.

The app looks very clean. You can see the “sb” logo, a “?” help button, and login/register buttons at the top. We liked the sliding bar that shows Live Sports, Casino, and 8 pre-match sports market buttons from Football to Table Tennis.

The homepage’s bottom navigation shows the A-Z Menu (listing 30+), Promos, Live Casino, Slots, Betslip, My Bets and Blog. However, the bottom bar changes depending on what you click. If you click on Slots, for example, the menu changes to show all products.

This layout is much easier to use than the mobile site, which feels crowded. The site actively encourages users to download the app, with the “New Android App” being easily spotted.

Push Notifications

This is a very useful tool. Both the APK and iOS apps can send you alerts about new deals or when your bet wins. The mobile site cannot do this. In our tests, getting an alert the moment a bet won was great because we could use that money for new bets right away.

Performance

The Android app is typically fast and easy to use. Some bookies just give you a copy of their site, but this is a real app built for your phone. This means moving between pages is smoother. It handles live betting and games without the slow speeds often seen in a browser. We saw a tiny bit of lag when switching tabs, but it is still much faster than the site.

The app is also consistently updated to improve its performance and stability, with the most recent update occurring on 16 December 2025. One of the most common complaints from Apple users over the years has been being kicked out of the app and having to reopen it after finishing a casino game. We did not experience this, but it is something to watch out for.

Minimum Space Required

The main problem with this app is the size. Because it has so many features, it takes up a lot of space (207 MB for Android and 133.9 MB for iOS). The app can slow down if your phone is almost full.

If you have no space, the mobile site is a good choice because it uses 0 MB, but it is slower and not as good-looking.

How Do I Register On the Sportingbet App?

The sign-up process on the app is broken into many small steps requiring you to click “Next” after each entry:

  1. Click the “Register” button in the top-right corner.
  2. Enter your email address & create a password.
  3. Provide your Title, First Name, and Surname.
  4. Enter your South African ID or Passport number & your physical home address.
  5. Say where your betting money comes from & enter a valid SA mobile number.
  6. “Create an account”.

Steps to Log In on the App

The SportingBet app login process is very quick. Follow these simple steps to access your account:

  1. Tap the white-outlined “Login” button at the top right.
  2. Enter your email address or your User ID.
  3. Type in your secure password.

When you open the login screen, you will see a “Fast Login” switch right there. If you turn this on to “Auto login”, the app will remember your details. This means you can go straight to your bets without typing your email and password every single time you open the app.

How to Place a Bet on the App

  4. Tap on the odds for the outcome you think will happen (e.g., Team A to win).
  5. Your selection will automatically move to the “Betslip” at the bottom of the screen. Tap it to open.
  6. Type in the amount of money you want to bet manually, or click the quick stake buttons: +10, +20, +40, +100, or +200.
  7. Tap the blue “Place Bet” button to finalise your wager.

Our 5 Favourite Features Of the App

Many bookies have mobile apps with poor betting tools, but not the Sportingbet app in South Africa. Our team found that the app is not just a basic copy of their website, unlike the Bet.co.za app.

1. Build A Bet

Build A Bet allows you to combine multiple markets from the same match (like Match Winner + Total Goals + Bookings) into a single bet. On the mobile site, adding multiple legs can often lead to lag or browser refresh errors.

On the app, these selections are processed locally on your phone. This makes the building process instant and significantly smoother for complex multi-bets. When you browse the live streaming tab, you will see orange Build A Bet labels for top games, meaning you can use both tools together seamlessly.

2. Live Streaming

The bookmaker is famous for its live streaming service, called Sportingbet TV. A Live Streaming tab in the app’s Live sports section shows available leagues and competitions. At the time of this review, we found upcoming streamable games for the German Bundesliga.

While the streaming player is available on all platforms, it performs much faster on the app. It is also more convenient than using the desktop site because you can watch games and place your bets on the go.

3. Fingerprint Login

If you have an iPhone, the “Fast Login” toggle comes with an additional “Touch ID” option. This lets you log in using your fingerprint. It is a very safe way to keep your account private while still being much faster than typing.

This is one of the few app-exclusive features, and it is excellent. It’s just unfortunate that Android users are left out.

4. Alerts

The app is the only way to get real-time Winning Bet alerts. While a mobile site requires you to actively check your history, the app pushes an alert to your lock screen the moment your bet is settled. This allows you to react immediately to live games or reinvest your winnings without having to keep the bookmaker’s website open.

5. Auto Cash Out

The app’s Auto Cash Out feature is far more reliable than the web version. You can set a specific profit threshold, and the app’s background processes will monitor the markets to automatically trigger the payout.

On a mobile browser, if your session times out or your connection drops, you might miss the window to cash out manually. The app ensures you are always connected to the live odds.

Should You Get The Sporting Bet App?

Expert Review: Our Experience with the Sportingbet App

After our in-depth testing of the Sporting Bet app, we found it to be one of South Africa’s most reliable mobile betting applications. We were particularly impressed by the integration of Build A Bet within the live streaming tab. This, combined with the lack of lag on the app, puts it above many of its competitors and the standard mobile website.

While we dislike the large file size and the lack of a data-free mode, the general speed and on-the-go convenience outweigh these flaws. The fast login and real-time alerts provide a premium feel that the mobile site simply cannot match.

For its reliability, betting features, and market-leading live streaming, we give the Sportingbet app a 4/5 rating.
