Nigerian international goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has rejoined Chippa United just days after being spotted in training at the club.
The 30-year-old shot-stopper is back with the Chilli Boys as they begin preparations for the 2026/27 campaign under the guidance of coach Brandon Truter.
Nwabali’s departure from Chippa earlier this year came as a surprise, especially after his impressive performances at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where he helped Nigeria secure a bronze medal with a penalty shootout victory over Egypt.

Dumisani Msibi’s position under threat
His exit was particularly shocking as the club was in the midst of a relegation battle in the Premier Soccer League.
In his absence, goalkeeper Dumisani Msibi rose to the occasion, delivering a series of strong performances to help the team survive.
Msibi finished the season on a high, keeping five clean sheets and earning the captain’s armband, which even put him in contention for a national team call-up.
However, his position now looks to be under threat as Chippa have confirmed the return of the goalkeeper to the club.

“Chippa United Football Club is delighted to welcome Stanley Nwabali back to the Chilli Boys,” the club wrote.
“After taking time away, Stanley Nwabali returns to the Eastern Cape, and we are pleased to welcome him back to the club. “
With the return of Nwabali, Chippa have reportedly reversed their decisions on two potential signings. The club is no longer expected to sign former Polokwane City goalkeeper Brian Bwire or defender Bongani Sam as per iDiski Times.
