Golden Arrows coach Manqoba Mngqithi has revealed he did not take his exit from Mamelodi Sundowns lightly.
The 53-year-old was fired by Masandawana in December 2024 after registering inconsistent results across all competitions. A poor start to the Caf Champions League coupled with MTN8 and Carling Knockout Cup exits were not taken well by the management.
Mngqithi has since been appointed as Arrows coach, a team he has coached in the past. He insists he gave his best at Masandawana claiming he left the club better than the way he started. However, he did not take his exit from the Brazilians lightly as revealed in his most recent interview with iDiski Times.
‘I still thought we had achieved so much' – Mngqithi

“I was disappointed, I cannot lie to you, I was disappointed because, in my opinion, I still thought we were on a good run,” he stated.
“I still thought we had achieved so much, and we had improved so much in most of the matrix that we wanted to improve on, and, in my naked eye, I just saw bigger potential in the group going forward.
“But be that as it may, I still had to accept the decision and move on because even in my own house or my own business, I take my decisions, and nobody must be telling me what to do. My decision is based on what I think is good for my business and I think that is what I did, and I cannot blame them for that. Maybe there’s something they saw that I didn’t see.”
