The Brazilians are also hoping to go all the way this season, once again, despite facing tough challenges from their rivals.

Kaizer Chiefs (898) and Orlando Pirates (897) are hot on their heels. Chiefs will notch their 899th on Tuesday against Sekhukhune United, while Pirates’ midweek fixture has been postponed due to CAF Champions League commitments.

Sundowns have dominated across their 899 matches, racking up 495 wins and 1717 points. They sit comfortably atop the all-time PSL table, well ahead of Pirates (1547 points) and Chiefs (1531).

This season, Masandawana remain unbeaten and are chasing a ninth consecutive league title while Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates made a good start to the season Since the PSL’s inception in 1996, 53 clubs have featured, but only Sundowns, Chiefs, and Pirates have played every season.

Amakhosi have started the season well, winning four games and managing a draw from the five played so far. They are the only team that haven't conceded a goal in the ongoing department, a situation that will be put to the test on Tuesday night.

Pirates started the campaign with back-to-back PSL losses, but have since won three in a row. Winning MTN8 for the fourth consecutive time is a massive motivation to the players as well.

It is interesting to see whether the Soweto giants will stop Masandawana from winning another league crown.
