South African police have opened an investigation after Mamelodi Sundowns left-back Divine Lunga’s car was shot at in Hillbrow, Johannesburg on Sunday.
According to Zim Live, the 30-year-old was driving his blue BMW on Tudhope Street with friends when an unidentified man flagged them down. According to a police statement, the man mistook them for undercover traffic officers.
The man claimed he had just been robbed of R34,000 by individuals in a vehicle ahead of them and pleaded for their help.
Lunga and his companions agreed to assist and began following the suspects’ car. During the chase, an occupant of the pursued vehicle allegedly opened fire on Lunga’s BMW.
