Mamelodi Sundowns defenders have been bringing their A game in training and matches to ensure regular playtime.
One of the players who has been doing well is Keanu Cupido; the centre-back was signed at the start of the year from Cape Town City. He struggled to break into the starting team, making just four appearances for Masandawana in the second half of the season.

However, he shone in the FIFA Club World after getting a nod ahead of Mosa Lebusa, and experienced Mothobi Mvala, who was returning from injury and struggling for match fitness.
How his spouse stood up by him
The 27-year-old was frustrated by an injury that took him some time to fully heal before getting back to serious business. This season, he has already played four games for the Brazilians across all competitions. He has revealed how his wife helped him get back to his best.
“Before, like it was tough basically; in all honesty, it was very tough for me personally, but my wife made it very easy. She told me, ‘Listen here, everything works through God; if it’s his timing, it will work out’. And that kept me going, basically,” Cupido said in a presser.
“So, I felt like she also played a major part in this, to keep me motivated, to keep my head down, and to continue to work.
“I feel like that’s the most important thing, also having that support structure. And going into this season like the tournament, helped me a lot, it showed people who I am basically, my talent, me as a person, as a defender, and ja, like, now I feel like I have more confidence going into the season than the previous one,” he concluded.
