Thembinkosi Lorch forcing his way into Broos’ Bafana plans with another goal for Wydad in CAF CC

South Africa international Thembinkosi Lorch has once again knocked on Hugo Broos' door after an outstanding performance for his Wydad Athletic team in the CAF Confederation Cup game played at Larbi Zaouli Stadium on Friday.

The Botola Pro League outfit hosted Asante Kotoko in the second leg of the annual competition, hoping to complete the journey by adding to the 1-0 win recorded away in the first leg against the Ghanaian outfit Asante Kotoko.

The former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns star has been doing well in North Africa, after cementing his place in the starting team following an initial loan move mid-last season, which was eventually made permanent a couple of months ago.

Lorch on the score-sheet again!

Wydad Casablanca needed a minute to get their first goal against the West African outfit but Glbani Samba equalised 18 minutes later. However, former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns target Aziz Ki made it 2-1 in the 26th minute, before Nyoso found the back of the net in the 54th minute with a Panenka penalty.

Oussama Zemraoui and Mohamed Bouchouari then scored in the 84 and 91st minute to ensure the game ended 5-1 on the night and 6-1 in aggregate to grab their group stage slot for the ongoing campaign.

It was his third goal for Wydad this season across all competitions, which is an indication that he is back to his best.

His form is another good headache for Bafana Bafana Coach Hugo Broos, who is preparing players for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 FIFA World Cup. It will be hard to ignore Lorch if he sustains his form.
