Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye has voiced concerns about Bafana Bafana midfielder Patrick Maswanganyi's recent performances, suggesting his body language against Tanzania indicated an underlying issue.
Maswanganyi, returning to the senior national team after an injury sidelined him from the March 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, started in Friday's goalless draw against the Taifa Stars in Polokwane.
However, his 68 minutes on the field saw him struggle to make a significant impact.
Khanye's observations align with Maswanganyi's dip in form towards the end of the recent season, where he appeared less influential, even in crucial matches for his club.
The former Chiefs star, who considered the draw a fair outcome, speculates that Maswanganyi's demeanor points to an off-field matter affecting his game.
This suggests that despite being back on the national stage, something beyond the pitch might be weighing on the talented midfielder.

KHANYE ON MASWANGANYI’S LESS IMPACT LATELY
“Tito from his body language it looked like there’s something bothering him,” said Khanye on iDiski TV.
“I think off the field there is something bothering him when I look at him and judging his body language.
“He’s one of the best talents and he knows football. South Africa identified a gem in him, and he also came to the party but not today.”
Maswanganyi scored seven goals in 42 appearances across all competitions for Orlando Pirates last season.
He's expected to be a pivotal figure in the Sea Robbers' pursuit of a formidable resurgence, with both player and club acutely aware that his individual bounce-back could directly translate into a much-desired return to dominance on the field.
