‘Time to keep crying!’ Kaizer Chiefs-linked star’s cryptic message after return to NT

Kaizer Chiefs-linked Nigeria international goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has sent a cryptic message after making a return to the national team setup.

The 30-year-old’s last involvement with the Super Eagles was way back in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The Chippa United shot-stopper played a critical role in helping his nation win bronze at the expense of Egypt. The two nations reached the penalty shootout, where Nwabali pulled up some top saves, including denying legendary attacker Mohamed Salah.

Following his return to the team, the keeper took to his Snapchat account to warn his critics that more was coming. He shared 2025 AFCON video heroics with a caption, “I’m back, it’s time to keep crying!”

What is coming for Nwabali

Nwabali is expected to start in goal ahead of competitors Arthur Okonkwo, Maduka Okoye when Nigeria start there 2027 AFCON Qualifiers.

The West Africans are in Group L alongside Tanzania, Madagascar and Guinea Bissau, with two top teams in the pool qualifying for the biennial competition to be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

With the latter already qualified by virtue of being one of the hosts, the other spot is up for grabs. The first assignment will be on Friday against Madagascar before facing Guinea-Bissau away in the second outing in the group.
