‘We are capable of competing for title next season’: Chiefs legend

Tinashe Nengomasha, a Kaizer Chiefs legend, has commended Amakhosi for their upturn in form in recent games.

Chiefs made three signings in the January transfer window – Thabo Cele, Glody Lilepo and Tashreeq Morris.

He noted positively that Nasreddine Nabi has adopted a more settled approach to team selection, rather than chopping and changing the team.

This newfound consistency, according to Nengomasha, suggests Kaizer Chiefs will be well-equipped to challenge for silverware in the upcoming season.

NENGOMASHA SAYS CHIEFS ARE NO LONGER CHOPPING AND CHANGING THE TEAM

“I have had the chance to watch the team play and I can tell you that they look fit. The way they play it's a team that is well maintained in terms of fitness and that's very important in modern football,” said Nengomasha during interview with Soccer Laduma.

“If you have to play three games in six days and you don't change the team that much then it means the fitness level is at another level.

“I think they are doing very well in that department compared to the past few seasons and their fitness will play a very important part in the results at the end of the season to avoid fatigue. So, yes, I think they are better than most of the past three or four seasons.

He continued, “The squad that we have now is capable of competing and achieving something. It could not be this season but from next season they will fight for silverware as well as the league title.

“If they can keep this squad and just add two or three players in important positions next season they are looking really good to compete. And that kind of fitness is vital in such a team.”
