Kaizer Chiefs Transfers: 5 Amakhosi players who could be offloaded in January

Published on by

With the PSL January transfer window now open, teams are already signing players in readiness for the second half of the season.

Already, Mamelodi Sundowns are reported to have shelled out R65 million on Colombian striker Brayan Leon while Orlando Pirates have lured midfielder Andre de Jong from Stellenbosch FC and shipped out Sinoxolo Kwayiba to Chippa United.

Sekhukhune United have signed Lehlohonolo Mojela from Stellenbosch with AmaZulu bringing in Mason Mushore from Zimbabwe’s Highlanders FC.

Kaizer Chiefs are also expected to make reinforcements but with a big squad, who could make way for new signings at Naturena?

The former SuperSport United striker was signed in January 2025 but was another of Chiefs’ poor signings as he is yet to score and has lost his place in the team.

Since his signing, Morris, who is entering the final six months of his deal, has played just 11 games and is yet to feature this term. With six other strikers to compete with, he certainly has no future at Chiefs.

Ashley Du Preez

While he brings a different dynamic, another striker facing an uncertain future is Ashley Du Preez who is now competing with Khanyisa Mayo, Etiosa Ighodaro, Wandile Duba, Flavio Silva, Luka Baartman and Morris for a starting place.

Given four of those are new signings, Du Preez, who has been at Chiefs since 2022, has fallen down the pecking order and could be shipped out to trim the squad.

Nineteen goals and nine assists in 92 games is not good enough and after juts eight games without a goal this season, it might be time to go.

The defender was signed to beef up the left-back position but he is yet to make his debut for reasons that have not been revealed. A new signing spending six months, or even a season, without playing is not new at Chiefs and the outcome is never good.

It may be time for Chiefs to let him go out on loan as it seems he is still not in the plans of the coaching staff.

The midfielder came close to leaving in the off-season but Chiefs granted him an extension of one year. However, there is plenty of competition in central midfield with Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Thabo Cele, Siphesihle Ndlovu and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, who are all ahead of him, and it might be time to end his Chiefs spell.

Fiacre Ntwari

The Rwandan goalkeeper was signed in July 2024 and after an initial run of games, he was dropped in November 2024 and has struggled to regain his place with Bruce Bvuma and Brandon Petersen now preferred ahead of him.

Ntwari also did not cover himself in glory in the only game he was given this season, refusing to come off in extra-time during the Carling Knockout shootout loss to Stellenbosch and that likely spelt the end for him at Naturena.
