What Pirates coach Riveiro said after losing to Cape Town City

Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro expressed his disappointment following his team's 1-0 defeat to Cape Town City in the Betway Premiership on Wednesday.

Darwin Gonzalez scored the only goal of the match, handing the hosts all three points.

This marked Pirates' second league loss of the season, having previously fallen to Stellenbosch FC with the same scoreline on December 1st.

Riveiro acknowledged the team's dominance throughout the match and described the loss as inexplicable, given their control of the game.

“I cannot do analysis now, actually quite difficult to explain the final result. I think the difference between the two teams was too big this time with all the respect for the game of Cape Town City,” Riveiro told SuperSport TV.

“But It's difficult to explain that we lost this game the way we did but this is football. They managed to put one ball in the net.

“We didn't but I think a very complete performance. We did everything in order to win the match, there's no much that you can do so to the next one.”

Riveiro contended that his team had exerted maximum effort to secure victory, but fortune unfortunately did not favor them.

‘IT’S PURE BAD LUCK’

“No, I just think it's pure bad luck in this case if you see the way they score. It's something not normal, but like I said we were Pirates tonight,” he added.

“We played the football that we've been playing before and there were other games we played that we didn't play the football that we played before and got the results today we couldn't make it. Now, we have to put our heads to the next one today is gone.”
