Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. insists the Glamour Boys have improved critical areas for the 2025/26 season.

Ranga Chivaviro, Edmilson Dove, Sabele Radebe, Njabulo Blom, Mduduzi Mdantsane, Edson Castillo, Yusuf Maart, Tebogo Potsane, and Bongani Sam are the players out. The management has since signed six players: Flavio Silva (Persebaya Surabaya, Indonesia), Ethan Chislett (Port Vale, England), Nkanyiso Shinga (FC Alverce, Portugal), Paseka Mako (Orlando Pirates), Thabiso Monyane (Orlando Pirates), and Siphesihle Ndlovu (SuperSport United).

Motaung has not locked out any potential new players, hinting that the club will only add the players they feel they need.

The former player has further underlined the importance of beating Stellenbosch on Sunday in the Premier Soccer League game that will be staged at the Athlone Stadium. The administrator further expressed his delight that the Soweto giants are back in international football, where they will compete in the CAF Confederation Cup.

‘Happy Chiefs ready for Caf Confederation Cup

“We believe we have reinforced key areas within the squad, but we know that recruitment is an ongoing process,” he told the media.

“It is crucial for us to start strongly [in the Premier Soccer League] as the games will come thick and fast this season due to the AFCON break in December, and next year being a World Cup year. Additionally, we’ll be participating in the CAF Confederation Cup, meaning our schedule will be tight and busy.

“We are very happy to be back in one of CAF’s prestigious competitions. We aim to build on our successful run in 2021 that saw us go all the way to the finals of the CAF Champions League in 2021 against Al Ahly in Morocco.

“When we went to the Netherlands for our pre-season, our primary focus was to work on getting the team fully ready for this season,” Motaung Jr. concluded.
