Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs face off in the 186th Soweto Derby on Saturday and all eyes will be on the FNB Stadium for South Africa’s biggest game.

Pirates will be the home team and head into the clash in great form, having suffered just one defeat all season, in the MTN8 final.

In the league, Pirates have seven wins and a draw which have them in second place on the table with 22 points, just one behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, while Chiefs have had a tough start to the campaign.

The Glamour Boys are yet to lose in the league but three wins and five draws have left them in fifth place, eight points behind Pirates, while there have been early eliminations from the CAF Confederation Cup and MTN8.

However, just like Pirates, they head into the derby after winning 3-0 in the Carling Knockout on Tuesday, making up for a fascinating contest at the FBN.

Besides the three points, there is also bragging rights at stake with Chiefs heading into the game with a recent poor record.

Pirates have won five of their last six league meetings against Chiefs, the other one ending in a draw, which was the last Soweto derby in April 2026.

Chiefs, however, claimed a 2-1 win in the 2025 Nedbank Cup final and will want to do that again as defeat would leave them 11 points behind Pirates after just nine league games.
