The roar of the crowd and the flash of the camera couldn't hide the emotion on Yanela Mbuthuma’s face who scored a brace when Orlando Pirates beat Lioli FC 4-0 in the CAF Champions League first preliminary round second leg.
He finally rattled the back of the net after struggling for some time since joining the Sea Robbers.
Mbuthuma came alive in the second half, netting two superb goals as Pirates stormed to a 4-0 victory, cruising into the next round with a dominant 7-0 aggregate score.
The clinical display was rounded out by two goals from the in-form Tshepang Moremi.
WHAT MBUTHUMA SAID AFTER OPENING HIS PIRATES SCORING ACCOUNT
“I’m really happy with the two goals I scored,” Mbuthuma said to OP TV.
“I had to push at training and really hard too and I told myself that if I play I’ll get a chance [to score]. All I had to do is keep pushing.
“So, today I’m just happy and I can’t believe it. I’m very happy.”
Meanwhile, the Bucs head coach Ouaddou, who granted Mbuthuma an opportunity in the second half, heaped praise on the character that was showed by his troops.
“It’s what we wanted to achieve, it was important for us to [prove again] the performance that we produced in the first leg,” Ouaddou told SABC Sport.
“And I have to congratulate my boys about the character, the personality and the ambition to play the good football and score goals until the end.
“They played a good football for our fans and it’s good. I was not panicking, I told the guys to continue to focus on the plan to find the each other between the lines,” added the former Morocco international defender. “We did well, now we have to focus on the next league that is upcoming for us.”
