‘You’ll see the best of him’ – Sibisi on Bafana teammate

Published on by

Orlando Pirates defender Nkosinathi Sibisi has opened up on partnering with his club teammate Mbekezeli Mbokazi at Bafana Bafana.

The 29-year-old centre back is perhaps the most experienced national team player at Bafana with Hugo Broos having excluded the majority of the team’s regulars.

Hugo Broos’ charges will participate in their second and concluding friendly international as they go head-to-head with Mozambique. The match, staged at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Tuesday, 10 June.

Sibisi has provided a very positive assessment of his 19-year-old Pirates teammate, specifically praising their defensive cohesion.

He confidently stated that the youngster is an effortless individual to collaborate with in the backline, saying he takes the instructions “very well”.

‘HE’S A VERY HUMBLE BOY’

“I’ve played with Mbokazi at club level; it won’t be any different in the national team,” he told the media in Polokwane as quoted by iDiski Times.

“He’s a very, very humble boy. He takes well instructions. For me, it’s very easy to play alongside him.

“I don’t think tomorrow it will be a big change for him. As the coach has mentioned to say it’s a perfect choice for me to partner him to give him that guidance and give him that confidence to be able to take his chance.

“I think tomorrow we’ll get to see the best of him.”

This was the first call-up for Mbokazi who burst onto the professional football scene in the past few months under the guidance of Jose Riveiro.

He slowly became a regular for the Sea Robbers and has played a number of significant matches for the club.
